September often feels like a fresh start. New teachers, new classrooms, new routines – and for some children, a few new nerves too!

While the start of a new school year can be exciting, it can also be a big adjustment. Having something enjoyable to look forward to at the weekend can give children a chance to relax, be themselves and build confidence away from the pressures of the school week.

At Kiddle's Arts & Crafts Weekend Schools, we believe creativity is about so much more than making something beautiful.

A place where there's no 'wrong' answer

Arts and crafts give children something incredibly valuable: the freedom to experiment.

There isn't always one correct way to paint a picture, build a sculpture or interpret an idea. Children can make their own choices, try something new and discover what they like.

That independence can be a wonderful confidence boost. Seeing an idea go from their imagination to something they've actually created gives children a real sense of achievement – especially when they proudly get to take it home!

Building confidence one project at a time

Not every child feels confident putting their hand up in class, playing competitive sports or walking into a room full of new people.

Creative activities offer another opportunity to shine.

As children learn new techniques and tackle different projects, they begin to see what they're capable of. Something that initially seems difficult becomes, "Look what I made!"

Those little moments of achievement matter.

Creativity, friendships and time to unwind

Our Weekend Schools aren't just about learning artistic skills. They're also a chance for children to spend time with others who enjoy being creative.

They can chat, laugh, share ideas and make new friends while having some much-needed creative time at the end of a busy school week.

For many children, creating something with their hands can also be wonderfully calming. It's an opportunity to slow down, concentrate on what's in front of them and simply enjoy the process.
